[Video camera] Glossary - Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)

In the second quarter of the year 2000, the Canadian Government enacted new privacy legislation that increased protections for everyone in Canada, which is called "The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act" (PIPEDA).  The PIPEDA received Royal Assent on April 13th, 2000, and it can be viewed on the official "Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada" web site:  http://www.priv.gc.ca/leg_c/leg_c_p_e.cfm

Compliance with the PIPEDA is enforced by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, who first investigates complaints before recommending an appropriate remedy, such as persuing legal action.
