Glossary - Internet Service Provider (ISP) An organization (often a private company) that provides access to the internet (better known as "connectivity") through a telephone line, television cable, wireless signal (e.g., radio waves), or other communications medium. ISPs base their service fees on a number of factors, including their own connectivity costs. Since spam tends to consume a high volume of internet resources, this factor obviously increases the costs for consumers (the consumption amounts differ between ISPs). See also
